Polimoda began in 1986 as a joint project with the State University of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, and was co-financed by the municipalities of Florence and Prato, and several other business associations. Polimoda provides students with high-quality professional training.
The school caters to 1500 students in two different locations in Florence: a Renaissance-style building in Villa Favard and a state-of-the-art Design Lab in Scandicci. 70% percent of the students are international, and have travelled great distances to benefit from Polimoda’s world-class teaching methods. Polimoda’s teachers are often practitioners who have worked all over the world.
